Psalm 130: 7-8 ” O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption, And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.”
The Israel mentioned in this verse refers to the True Israel of God, the believers. What great blessing that our hope is in the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth, the all-powerful, majestic, and awesome God. This hope is not a disposition that good things may come but a confident certainty that good things will come to His people. We have this hope because this same God is full of steadfast love. This love is the basis of His plentiful redemption. The promise is that He will redeem us from all our iniquities. And isn’t it that Christ already fulfilled this promise? In His cruel death on the cross, He paid for all our sins. We have been washed clean by His blood. In the eyes of God, we become accepted in the beloved. A justified people we have become.
But while here on earth, we continue to struggle against sin. We are being sanctified day by day. Yet, we have the surety that in His grace, we will prevail. God will redeem us from all iniquities. So we don’t lose hope that we will be delivered from our weaknesses, our lack of discipline, our occasional coldness in the faith.
We put our trust in Jehovah. He is our strength and our shield, our exceeding great reward. We can hope in Him because of His steadfast love.
Thank You Lord for loving us, though we are unworthy. Because of Christ’s redeeming love, we can live with a hope of full deliverance from all our sins. This gives us strength to go on in our journey, though sometimes we fall. We put our confidence in your steadfast love. In Jesus Name. Amen
